Technology Innovation Management
This course provides a comprehensive theoretical framework for understanding technological creativity and its relationship to business to generate economic value for modern organizations. Topics include discovering and creating ideas, developing and disseminating them; understanding strategies for applying technological creativity in business; various models of technological creativity and how to apply and leverage them in business organizations.
Software Project Management
This course aims to provide students with the fundamentals of software project management and technology from the project requirements phase to successful delivery. Topics covered include: using IT resources to develop information systems optimally, technical, managerial, organizational, and tactical concepts related; software management and project proposals; planning software projects and developing its tools; scheduling, resource management, project monitoring, and effective management of these projects.
E-Commerce
This course aims to study information technology foundations of electronic commerce and its applications across sectors and industries. Topics include opportunities in the business environment, e-commerce strategies and challenges, elements and architecture of e-commerce and their technical and commercial drivers, competitive advantage, modern technologies and distribution channels, pricing and promotional activities in the electronic environment. Students use software to apply the practical content of the course.
Legal Aspects of Information Management
This course aims to study legal and regulatory concepts and legal cases related to the field of information systems. The course focuses on: interactions between administrative, legislative, and legal systems; rights and responsibilities of stakeholders in any information systems and Internet environment; copyrights; information confidentiality; freedom of information and privacy; and the professional and ethical aspects of this domain.
Operations Research
This course aims to provide students with the fundamentals of operations research, emphasizing its importance and role in improving and enabling commercial enterprises to thrive. Topics include: operations research models; problem-solving methodologies using quantitative analysis in decision making; steps to build operations research models graphically; linear programming. It also covers sensitivity analysis, transportation and assignment models, forecasting models, project scheduling methods, inventory models, queueing models. Students are trained to use readily available software packages.
Programming for Administrative Information Systems Development
This course aims to equip students with the skills to design and write high-quality programs using a visual programming environment through which interactive systems for online business environments are designed. Topics include: programming fundamentals, models, model properties, user interfaces, menus, and creating the final executable program.
Information Systems Environment
This course aims to provide students with a broad understanding of the information technology environment and its infrastructure, and connect this to the basics of local IT management. Topics include: local administrative structure, government and private-sector initiatives and achievements, e-government, local laws relating to IT use, local IT strategies, plans and strategies, the IT industry and factors affecting the success of software development initiatives, benefits of information networks and their implications and local applications, and issues related to ethical and professional aspects of this domain.
Systems Analysis and Design
This course aims to present the fundamentals, tools, and methods used in system development and to understand the role of the systems analyst in the field of information systems. Topics include: feasibility analysis, design strategies and alternatives, prototypes, principles of user interface design, rapid application development and computer-based design tools. Comprehensive coverage of the stages of the systems development life cycle (planning, analysis, design, implementation and operations). The practical component is covered using advanced software and supporting tools.
Software Project Management Laboratory
Aims to provide students with practical applications of the topics they have learned, enhancing their experience and skills related to applying software tools used in managing projects (e.g., Microsoft Project, COCOMO, and Monte Carlo); all conducted within a team-based framework as a practical exercise for handling software projects.
Decision Support Systems Laboratory
Aims to provide students with an opportunity to apply the main concepts managers face to make effective decisions through practical applications using decision-support software.
Programming for Administrative Information Systems Development Laboratory
This laboratory course aims to equip students with the skills needed to work on the practical applications of the fundamentals studied, through a set of programming tasks implemented using a visual programming language.
Capstone Project
This course aims to apply the student's learning from the courses studied through an applied project in the field of business administration and institutions, by analyzing and evaluating different system alternatives, and then designing and developing a computerized system, detailing its stages and documenting it according to established standards.
Financial Information Systems
This course aims to study the fundamental principles for developing a financial information system, with emphasis on the importance and role of the information system as a primary driver for changing the structure of financial institutions. Topics covered include: basic concepts in financial systems, computer applications related to the financial aspects of accounting data, the contribution of internal and external auditing, the role of marketing research in developing computerized financial information systems, long-term forecasting and its place within the managerial information systems framework, cash flow and information systems, analysis and design of financial information systems.
